Church History
While looking for a place to start
a church, there were several places we looked at until the Lord led us
to this little vacant church. We could hardly see the building for the
high weeds that had grown in the parking lot. We met with the owner of
the building. From that day there was a vision of a great church and
the Lord has never stopped blessing Temple Baptist Church.
Our first service was
Wednesday, August 30th, 1967. There were 11 in attendance. The offering
was $3.00. Our first Sunday service was September 3rd, 1967. We had 56
in attendance for Sunday School and 48 in the Worship service. Our
founding Pastor Rev. Glenn Rogers, Sr.'s first sermon was titled, "Rest
for the Restless." In the Sunday evening service there was 28 in
attendance, with an offering of $9.56. The sermon was entitled
"Worship".
The following Sunday,
September 10th, 47 were in attendance. During the invitation, the first
family to join Temple Baptist was Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harker and there
daughter Becky. Preacher brought a message on "At the End of Life, What
Then?". During the following weeks many others came to join the church.
Rev. Glenn Rogers, Sr.
dedicated his life to serving the Lord and giving to the people of the
church. He was a true and faithful servant for nearly 30 years until
the Lord called him home. The "baton of faith" was passed on to his
son, Rev. Glenn Rogers, Jr. who was called to serve the Lord at a young
age.
On September 10th, 2007 we
celebrated 40 years of ministry at Temple
Baptist Church. The Lord is still blessing and we are continuing to see
people accept Christ as their Saviour.
There are many people who
have worked together as the body of Christ. We are so thankful for
those faithful workers throughout our 40
years. Let us pray together that God will bless us with many more years!
We're excited
about what God is doing now, and we are looking forward to what God is
going to do in the future. Our desire is to keep on working to reach
the hearts of the lost till Jesus comes again. We know that God will
continue to reach out to the world and give peace to the hurting and
strength to the family.
May God
Greatly Bless You!
